Football Throwing Compilation (Several Clips)

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=BAoqLHU8WkY

Went down to Bullitt Park today for just a little bit to record some footage of me throwing.

I slowed down lots of the footage so that you can see the ball flying in mid-air. The camera footage was really dark, though, and that was something I was particularly unhappy about. I need to go back whenever the sun is really out and shining so that it won't be as dark.

There are several spirals, although I'm unhappy with several throws that are on here as well.

I will continue to improve, though, so I'm not going to sweat it. There's always time to learn.

This is not a video to brag, this is just to show how I throw and what I usually do whenever I get out on the field down at the park.

Enjoy, and thanks for those of you who support me.

My brother, and my dad in a few parts. My brother and I are quite talented in football, and football only for the most part. I can catch very well also... I think it just runs in our blood or something. I'm terrible at every other sport! Not so much in the delivery, but in the windup you are too hitchy. You need to bring it back smooth, keep the ball between your shoulder and your ear in a ready position. Also, when you drop back and throw, you open yourself up. Stay closed, perpindicular to the line of scrimmage then explode through your throw. When you open up like that from the beginning, you have no hip rotation or real knee bend. Also, when you drop back, your footwork needs to be the crossover step so you can drop back quicker and that will give you better footwork to throw the ball. Last, when you throw on the run, you need to stop and set your feet. Even though guys throw on the run in the big leagues, they all(to be accurate) stop their feet to a set position before they get rid of the ball. Only Brett Favre can get by without setting his feet. Keep in mind, you lose velocity and accuracy when your feet arent set. Favre gets by with this because he has velocity on top of velocity. Your base is more important than anything, you gotta have a good base before you can throw well, not just talking about spirals or wobbly passes. Just my 2 cents.

All good valid points, keep your head up as you step. If you lower your head, when you raise it back up to prepare to throw, you'll throw your mechanics off.

I am not gonna watch the video, but another key to throwing on the run is getting your shoulders squared to the target. That will allow you to get on top of the ball better to keep your velocity, and get a tighter spiral.
